6th Antigua Unit

Tweenies, Brownies, Girl Guides & Rangers

The 6th Antigua Company of Girl Guides is a Guides unit affiliated with the Spring Gardens Moravian Church. This group first came together during the 1930’s and registered as part of the Branch Association of the United Kingdom Girl Guides Association. Miss Ellie Knight, tutor at the Spring Gardens Training College was the first native captain who served the 6th Antigua Ranger company at Spring Gardens.

The 6th Antigua unit is a member of the Girl Guides Association of Antigua & Barbuda, a full member of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts and has a mission “to enable girls and young women to develop their fullest potential as responsible, productive citizens thereby contributing to national, regional and worldwide development.” It is guided by its promise which encompasses duty to God, service to others and country and development of character through the observance and practice of key values.

The 6th Antigua unit has remained active and currently includes:

Tweenies                    3-6 years

Brownies                  6-10 years

Guides                    10-15 years

Rangers                 15-25 years

The unit meets on Tuesday afternoons from 4:30 to 6:00 pm on the church grounds.
